Or maybe just an excuse to scribble some wanton vampire violence.
What if Raziel never got thrown into the Abyss but evolved like his brethren? Maybe he would have led some righteous-ass war against Kain and the Turelim when he saw what a mess the Empire was making of everything. Or maybe if he found out about Kain's, er... 'dirty secret'.
This 'evolved' Raziel follows on from this: [link] and this: [link]
Raziel's a slightly gung-ho kind of guy, so let's have him storm the Turelim vanguard like he couldn't give two craps for the wounds he will receive. He's evolved far enough that simple impalements can't obstruct him. It would have to be something pretty big and sharp to stop him in his tracks.
Conventional-style warfare like this probably wouldn't apply to the Nosgoth vampires. Spears yes, probably followed by fire. Swords and arrows = useless, unless you're decapitating the enemy, I guess? I imagine fire would be a major weapon, perhaps the only major weapon that could truly defeat a vampire legion. Or the Soul Reaver, ofc.
I'm pleased with how Raz's expression came out, and the nearest Turelim - no guide sketches underneath any of the other characters but Raz, this Turelim started out as an amorphous grey blob with the smudge and he turned out kinda handsome. I think my favourite part of the whole thing is Raz crushing someone's face, dragging him along and about to hurl him at his own comrades like a rag doll. Nasty.
(I've been in pain all the while I was drawing this - I wonder if it had any influence on the end product? It started out and was going to be two lines facing off, it even had Kain in there, but ended with charging, head crushing and impaling. )
I guess this is the real reason why Kain threw Raziel to the Abyss...he saw a alternative timeline if he spared Raziel which would later turn against him later on which he then came up a plan to use him to seek a third option out of the dilemma along the way.
