Console; PS2. Mostly, the issue was trying to get through the start of SR2. I was able to play it, but I keep being stuck in this courtyard of some sort that's in the beginning. Either I didn't play long enough to figure the place out, or I hit a nasty glitch. I'm planning on going back in a bit to see what's really happened, though.
Ah the Sarafan Stronghold's courtyard! Yes, it's got an entrance and exit there, but the place has a confusing symmetry. I've gone into that courtyard myself a few times, fought a few people in it, and then gone right back out the way I'd come, thinking I was going the right way to escape. Always forgetting to use the compass
Even though I watched my dad play it when I was younger, I only remember a few things, here and there. But, damn. Being around six or seven years old, already obsessed with vampires, and watching L.o.K... Corny as it sounds, SR2 was a part of my childhood. I never forgot it, even though my dad merely rented the game, and I could never forget the characters. They remained in my head or years, until I had a chance to finally research L.o.K.
Soooooo... This is kinda my own way of getting back in touch with my childhood, you could say. xP
Doesn't sound corny at all! My two uncles were game programmers/artists back in the 80s and I spent most of my childhood surrounded by bits of computers, playing old C64 and Atari games with them. SR was one of my first console games and I've lots of vivid memories of it. It's part of 'me' for sure.
I replayed the entire series recently and it was still a great atmospheric experience. I recommend you do it too
